Wyoming State Flag

Flag of Wyoming was adopted March 4, 1917. It consists of a blue background on which stands the figure of a bison in white. In this figure is designed the official seal of the State. The blue background is bordered by two bands: white and red. A contest was launched in 1917 to select a flag. It is finally that of Verna Keye that was retained. The colors are a clear reference to those of the national flag. This is a strong sign of belonging to the nation, very present on the flags of U.S. states (Texas, Georgia, Missouri). Seal takes a peculiarity of Wyoming, since wearing a headband that reads: "Equal rights", to remind that women have always had the right to vote. The other four bands recall, as characters, mineral and agricultural resources of Wyoming: "lifestock, grain, mining, oil". Wyoming has joined the United States on 4 July 1891. Wyoming is known as the "Equality State", and its capital is Cheyenne.
