Nevada State Flag
A flag is often an amalgam of anecdotes that tell the history of a state.
You will find below the description and explanation for the symbols of the flag of Nevada.
The flag of Nevada was adopted in this form on 16 July 1963. It consists of a blue background on which is drawn the seal of the State in canton*. The blue is very present in the background of American States’ flags, like those of Indiana of Louisiana, or Maine. This color refers to the national flag. The coat of arms of the State consists of two branches of sagebrush, official Nevada plant, but also the name of the state, in yellow, a yellow band on which appears the motto "battle born", for the state secessionist roots, and finally a silver star, which symbolizes the rich mining wealth. It is unusual to adopt a coat of arms that is not the official seal, as it’s often the case on the states’ flags. Nevada has joined the United States on 4 July 1865. Nevada is known as the "Silver State", and its capital is Carson City.
