North Carolina State Flag
A flag is often an amalgam of anecdotes that tell the history of a state.
You will find below the description and explanation for the symbols of the flag of North Carolina.
The flag of North Carolina was adopted in March 1885 in this form. It is composed of three bands: two horizontal at the wind (red and white), and a vertical at the hoist (blue). On the latter, one can distinguish two gold bands bearing the following dates: May 20, 1775 and April 12, 1776. These correspond to the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence and the resolution of Halifax, which are two major events that lead a year later to the United States’ Declaration of Independence. In fact, North Carolina is a leader to obtain Independence and enact a Constitution. This is represented in white star on the blue stripe, surrounded by the letters N and C, initials of the state. North Carolina has joined the United States on 4 July 1777, at the Declaration of Independence, as a part of the original thirteen states that created the United States. It is known as the "Tar Heel State", and its capital is Raleigh.
