Wisconsin State Flag

The flag of Wisconsin was adopted in 1863 . It consists of a blue background on which is written the name of the state, above, and the date of its accession to the Constitution of the United States (1848), below. In the center is the seal of the State. On it, we can distinguish the state motto: "Forward". Below is drawn a shield divided into four parts, which represent: A plow, for highly developed agriculture, a pick and a shovel for mining, one arm with a hammer, which symbolizes the work of artisans and an anchor for Wisconsin shipyards. The shield is surrounded by two characters, which confirm these symbols: a sailor and a minor left to right. Finally, thirteen bars arranged in a pyramid represent the thirteen founding states, pillars of the shield. Wisconsin has joined the United States on 4 July 1848. Wisconsin is known as the "Badger State", and its capital is Madison.
