Tennessee State Flag

The flag of Tennessee was adopted on 17 April 1905. It consists of a blue circle in the center, on which are drawn three five-pointed stars in white. The whole is arranged on a red background with two vertical stripes on the right, white and blue. The central circle represents the union of the three parts of the state (represented by the three stars): East Tennessee, West Tennessee and Middle Tennessee. This flag was designed by an infantry soldier, Leroy Reeves, which justified the use of two bands right by graphic considerations. After he drawn it in red, he considered that it was sad and needed to add color. He explained ??these points later because some interpreted the color blue as a symbol of the Tennessee River. This state takes its name from the village of Tanasi, long occupied by a Cherokee tribe. Tennessee joined the United States July 4, 1818.
