Florida State Flag
A flag is often an amalgam of anecdotes that tell the history of a state.
You will find below the description and explanation for the symbols of the flag of Florida.
The Florida Flag was adopted on 24 September 1900. It is composed of a St. Andrew's Cross on a white background, a symbol also used on the flag of Great Britain to represent Ireland. Some historians believe that this symbol is a clear reminder to the secessionist flag, but this interpretation is subject to discussion, since no objection was raised when it was adopted, while this was the case in other states because of this reference. In the center of the flag is affixed Florida seal. It is bordered yellow, and can be read below "In god we trust", the national motto. It shows a Seminole woman throwing hibiscus flowers. A boat is visible at the bottom, with sunlight. No particular interpretation has been made of this seal. Florida joined the United States on 4 July 1845. Florida is known as the "sunny state", and its capital is Tallahassee.
