Oregon State Flag

The flag of Oregon was adopted on 15 April 1925. It consists of a blue background on which we can read the name of the State in yellow. Below is drawn the seal of Oregon, and the date 1859, when the state joined the United States as the 33rd state. The 33 stars surrounding the central crest also allude to this fact. The eagle refers to the eagle adopted by the United States as a national symbol, that finds place on the President’s flag. In the shield, we can see several symbols associated with the state of Oregon. First of all, a boat that evokes both trade, settlers, and the Pacific side of the state. Then, there is a team of oxen, which highlights both the agricultural resources of Oregon, but also the quality of its cattle. Finally, the slogan "The Union" appears in lower band. This flag has a peculiarity: it is one of the few in the world to have two different sides, since, back, only a beaver (symbol of the state) is shown. Oregon has joined the United States on 4 July 1859. Oregon is known as the "Beaver State", and its capital is Salem.
