Slovenia Flag
The explanation for the symbols of the Slovenian Flag
The flag of Slovenia was adopted on 20 October 1994. It is composed of three horizontal of : white - blue - red. These are the panslav colors, used by many countries in Eastern Europe, such as Croatia or Serbia. These colors, which emphasize the common origin of the people wearing it, symbolize the people (red), the nobility (white) and the bourgeoisie (blue). Here, refer to those on the Yugoslavian flag, from which Slovenia is derived. In canton, we find the arms of the country : a shield that represents the country's mountains (Mount Triglav mainly), while the wavy bands symbolize the coasts of the country. The stars above the mountains would be a reference to the Counts of Celje, who ruled the country since the 12th century.
