Pakistan Flag
The explanation for the symbols of the Pakistani Flag
The flag of Pakistan was adopted on 11 August 1947. It consists of a green background on which is drawn a crescent and a white five-pointed star. The symbols used are mainly present to remind the country's strong attachment to Islam. Green is indeed the color traditionally used on the flags of Islamic countries. The crescent and five-pointed star are also deeply rooted in this culture : the five branches for the five pillars of Islam: Muhammad, prayer, Ramadan, pilgrimage to Mecca and almsgiving, and crescent for the last crescent of moon symbolizing the end of Ramadan.
