Nicaragua Flag
The explanation for the symbols of the Nicaraguan Flag
The flag of Nicaragua was adopted on 27 August 1971. It consists of three horizontal stripes blue - white - blue and arms of the country in the center. This flag is a direct reference to the United Provinces of Central America (such as Argentina or El Salvador). The colors used are very close to the neighboring countries, such as Honduras. They represent the country's oceans (Atlantic and Pacific) and peace for white. Its central emblem symbolizes the five members of United Provinces of Central America (five volcanoes), the equilateral triangle representing equality. The Phrygian cap is also present on the model of the French Revolution.
