Namibia Flag
The explanation for the symbols of the Namibian Flag
The flag of Namibia was adopted on 21 March 1990. It is composed of three stripes diagonally left-right disposed : blue on top - red - green on bottom. These colors were taken from the flag of SWAPO (South West African People's Organization), which was Namibia’s liberation party . The colors used are very strongly attached to the country's geography, but also its history. Blue, with the sun highlights a best country’s asset : climate. Green on bottom represents the vast natural wealth of the country. In the center, the red symbolizes the blood shed for independence. Small white interspersed lines evoke peace to be kept in the country.
