Cote d'Ivoire Flag

Flag of Ivory Coast was adopted on 3 December 1959. It is composed of three stripes arranged vertically : orange - white - green. The symbols associated with these colors are, as in many countries around the world, particularly in Africa, related to nature. While the orange may be reported to the savannahs that dominate the northern territory, Green evokes the southern forests. White, meanwhile, is a symbol of peace. Independent since 1960, under the power of Félix Houphouët Boigny, Ivory Coast law requires that the flag is "glorified, honored, and respected". Thus, it must be shown on any government, school, college or university building, but also on the office of any state worker of the country, and on the vehicle of personalities representing Côte d’Ivoire (President, ministers, prefects ...). The country’s adage "Unit - discipline - work" must also appear on all public buildings and documents.
