Canada Flag

The Canadian flag was adopted in 1965. This is the first state under British domination that has adopted a flag which does not include the Union flag (aka Union Jack). Former Canadian usual flag was indeed made??, as all members of the Commonwealth, with the Union flag on the top (hoist side), and arms of the country. The new flag adopted red (already present on the old flag) and white as national colours. It thus consists of two red stripes (hoist and wind sides), and a white square in the middle, decorated with a stylized eleven points maple leaf. Lester Bowles Pearson, then Prime Minister, decided to change the flag in 1964. This will initiate a debate among the strongest supporters of British domination. The maple leaf designed by George Stanley and John Matheson, based on the flag that adorns the Royal Military College of Canada, is selected. The Union flag is still present on several flags of Canadian provinces, such as Ontario. The Canadian flag is also known under the name of "The Maple Leaf", or “l’nifolié” (one leafed) in French.
