Ukraine Flag
The explanation for the symbols of the Ukrainian Flag
The flag of Ukraine was adopted on 28 January 1992. It is composed of two horizontal stripes of equal width : yellow on top and blue to bottom. These are the colors of the Rus’ de Kiev, that is to say Kievan Russia. They also symbolize the sky of Ukraine on wheat fields, which are the main resource of the country. Formerly, Ukraine also adopted the coat of arms depicting a golden lion on a blue background. These colors still remain from 1918, when Ukraine became independent. They were back in 1992 following the breakup of the USSR.
