Mongolia Flag
The explanation for the symbols of the Mongol Flag
The flag of Mongolia was adopted on 12 February 1992. It consists of three vertical stripes red - blue - red. On the strip to the hoist is drawn a yellow Soyombo, which is an old Mongolian emblem. This symbolizes the elements, but also the sun, the moon and the Ying Yang. The Soyombo has long been surmounted by a star, as on many communist countries’ flags (red evokes this regime yet), but it was withdrawn in 1992 after the fall of the Soviet regime. The blue strip represents Mongolia’s national color, evoking blue sky.
