Lithuania Flag
The explanation for the symbols of the Lithuanian Flag
The flag of Lithuania was adopted on 20 March 1989. It is composed of three horizontal stripes yellow - green - red. It was adopted after the fall of the communist regime of the former USSR, also giving freedom for the Eastern Europe’s people. Strong heraldic symbolic is present on the colors of the flag, which refers largely to the country's natural wealth : the yellow symbolizes the wheat fields, green broad expanded forest and fields, while red is the strong symbol for blood shed for independence. This flag was already used before the domination of the Soviet Union, but in different proportions.
